Anna Rawson is a rather good looking Australian girl who has been working as a model….but is now joining the LPGA Tour.

The
Australian ended the Final Round of the LPGA Qualifying Tournament this
past Sunday, netting three birdies, which made her first on the
conditional status list of the LPGA.

Thus far this year, Rawson placed second at the Swiss Open on the
Ladies European Tour. She was also named "The Most Popular Golfer" on
the Ladies European Tour by GOLF Weekly readers and earned the "Golf
Babe of the Year 2007" award at Eindhovensche Golf in the Netherlands.

Of course, Anna Rawson’s entry into the LPGA Tour is nothing to do with the fact that the people running the tour know that male golfers watch it for the eye candy of the players: nor anything to do with hte fact that the advertisers will pay for such an audience. No, no, perish that thought. The thing is though, that actually is what attracts th viewers, whether you like it or not.

None of which isn’t to say that Anna Rawson deserves her spot on the basis of her golfing ability:

Well, women’s professional golf has just advanced on my list of favorite sports from No. 109 to No. 63 … just ahead of cheese rolling, but still behind rugby and Calvinball. The dramatic upsurge in the standings is due to Anna Rawson, who earned her LPGA tour card this week. We are absolutely certain that she totally deserved it and was not rewarded ahead of more deserving amateurs. Nope.

She was also named "The Most Popular Golfer" on the Ladies European

KLM Ladies Open.

As GQ writer Benjie Goodhart said about Rawson, "They say Tiger Woods
made golf popular with people who previously felt excluded from the
game. This player could make golf popular with people who hate golf."
