Lucy Southworth (Lucy’s real name is in fact Lucinda Southworth, for the next day or two, anyway) is getting married to Larry Page, Google co-founder, on Richard Branson’s Necker Island. Weirdly, the bearded wonder himself is to be the best man at Lucy Southworth’s wedding.

Bad news, girls. Larry Page, the world’s only remaining bachelor Google
billionaire, is getting married tomorrow.

Mr Page, 34, the son of Michigan State University professors, is the
fifth-richest person in the US. His personal wealth of $18.5 billion (£9
billion) is larger than the GDP of Iceland.

As for those who believe they may still be in with a chance — there are at
least 24 hours left before the ceremony begins on Necker Island, which is
owned by Sir Richard Branson and costs $46,000 a night to hire — they should
probably brush up on their knowledge of eukaryotic organisms.

This, after all, is the research topic and preferred dinner table conversation
of Lucy Southworth, Mr Page’s fiancée, a 27-year-old doctoral student in
biomedical informatics at Stanford University. Ms Southworth previously
studied at Oxford, where she gained an MSc. The pair have reportedly been
together for over a year. It is not known if she has signed a prenuptial
agreement.

girlfriend, Lucy Southworth, on a tiny Caribbean island this weekend, a
source familiar with the wedding arrangements said on Wednesday.
   

The couple will hold the ceremony on an island enclave owned by
Richard Branson, the billionaire owner of Virgin Group, who will act as
best man to Larry, the source said.   

Page, 34, co-founded the famous search company in 1998 with Stanford
University classmate Sergey Brin. The two are now co-presidents of
Silicon Valley-based Internet leader Google.   

The New York Post reported on Wednesday that 600 guests will be
flown on private planes to the wedding on Branson’s Necker Island. The
Post’s Page Six column said wedding planners booked up the hotels on
the neighboring island of Virgin Gorda six months in advance.   

Since 2003, Southworth has been a doctoral student in biomedical
informatics at Stanford University. She graduated from the University
of Pennsylvania in 2001 and holds a master’s of science degree from
Oxford University.   

Southworth and a Google spokesman did not respond to requests for comment.
