Filomena Tobias seems to be getting something of a hard time over the death of her husband, Seth Tobias. A very hard time, as she’s being accused of having murdered him. From back a few weeks, just after Seth’s death:
Seth Tobias led a busy life on Wall Street. He was one of the first regular guests on Squawk Box, and ran money for well over a decade. My only conversation with the man took place at the launch party for Jagnotes.com at Cipriani’s 42nd Street location back in the late 90’s. He was busy chatting up a woman most of the night that I assumed was his girlfriend.
Seth apparently will not get an opportunity to rest in peace. The events in Florida continue to evolve, with his wife denying she had anything to do with his untimely demise:
Well-known society figure Filomena "Phyllis" Tobias responded Friday night to accusations from a man who described himself as her former assistant. He supposedly told cops she may have had something to do with the death of her husband, Wall Street guru and CNBC pundit Seth Tobias.
"I didn’t do anything to hurt my husband. I loved him. I have nothing to be ashamed of……I’m broken. I haven’t gone out in six weeks," the widow told Page Two. "I’ve been in and out of the hospital. I just pray all day and wonder why people could be so evil. All those rumors are disgusting. He’s a very sick man who should be institutionalized." Palm Beach Post
Moving up to date now Filomena Tobias is now being directly accused of murdering her husband, Seth Tobias. We do need to be ever so slightly careul here though. The people doing the accusing are Seth’s four brothers. Seth’s will was signed before his marriage. So it’s invalid: his wife inherits upon his death. But, but, if Filomena can be proven to have killed him, then under Florida law she doesn’t, and the brothers get it.
So, err, at this point, it’s your choice. Would Filomena Tobias muder her husband for $25 million? Would Seth’s brothers accuse Filomena of doing so in order to get the $25 million? And who can prove what? If anything?
The death of investment manager Seth Tobias is becoming the center
of controversy Tuesday after his brothers claim Tobias’ widow planned
his death.
Brothers brothers, Samuel, Spence, Scott and Joshua, claim that
Filomena Tobias drugged her husband and lured him into the pool, where
he drowned.
A former assistant to Seth Tobias has told the police that Filomena
Tobias confessed to him that she had lured her husband, who was on a
cocaine binge, into the water, promising him sex with a male go-go
dancer know as "Tiger." A lawyer for Filomena Tobias has called the
claims outrageous.
The plot thickened when it emerged that Filomena Tobias had paid
$9,628 to have the pool drained and resurfaced just days after her
husband died.
On th other hand, does anyone (other than those directly involved) actually care?
