Weird Family Band

Weird family band is getting a lot of time on Google at the moment. At a guess it’s a clue in the New York Times crossword. So what could be the answer?

Hmm. Weird family band. The Osmonds maybe? Certainly a family, pretty weird and they’ve been known to be called a band before now.

Hanson? Definitely a family band, but weird isn’t quite the right description.

How about The Family, the kookie "church"? They ended up with a few musicians, like one of the guitarists from Fleetwood Mac.

Or Charles Manson’s Family? That band was definitely weird and they did at least one cover, Helter Skelter, by The Beatles.

The Partridge Family (didn’t they make some records)?

I’m running out of options here. The Ramones, while they all took the same name, weren’t actually a family.

Ah, no, got it. Weird family band. Gotta be The Jacksons, right?

  1. The crossword answer seems to be “Hanson.” I don’t know why it is “weird.” Maybe they have a song called “Weird”? In the crossword clue, “weird” is capitalized and in quot. marks, ‘family band’ is lower case, no quot. marks. I take that to mean that it isn’t the name of a group but maybe of a song sung by the Hanson family group,
