Have you ever thought about going back to school? About either completing or increasing your education?
It’s a fairly important point actually, as in this modern world there are ever increasing returns to education. People with degrees earn much more than people without them: hundreds of thousands of dollars more over a lifetime of work. Part of this isto do with globalisation: there’s an awful lot of uneducated folk out there in other countries that you’ll be competing with. Having a degree moves you up out of the competition with them.
For example, you might think of an online nursing degree. That’s a job that definitely can’t be shifted off to another country. It’s also pretty well paid (some $40,000 a year on average, about the average for all American households) and the top nurses can make well over $100,000 a year.
There’s one other thing that you might want tothink about. Congress recently changed the rules about student loans. It used to be that you could only get a federally funded loan if you went to a college where more than 50% of the students actually attended the campus. That is no longer true, so you might well be able to get a subsidized loan to do an online nursing degree making completing your education even more attractive.
