This is How Margot Spends Your Money

Yes, really, this is how TEBAF Margot (that is, The Ever Blessed and Fragrant Ms. Wallstrom, European Union Commissioner and Vice President) spends your money:

As The Times tells us:

THE latest promotional video from Brussels shows European citizens engaged in
enthusiastic congress, but it is not the sort of union the founding fathers had
in mind.

The film, available on the European commission’s space on YouTube, the video
website, shows 18 couples having sex.

The video opens with a man and woman ripping each other’s clothes off in the
bedroom while bottles rattle on a shelf. In the interests of sexual equality,
two of the couples are gay.

In an attempt at humour that might go down better in Belgium than in Britain,
the film climaxes with quivering bedheads and loud orgasms. It closes with the
line: “Let’s come together.”

But let’s not be either prudish or even worse, indignant, at this use of our money. As one of the more perceptive Solons points out, it is in fact entirely appropriate:

But Godfrey Bloom, a UK Independence party MEP, said: “I suppose this film is
appropriate. The EU has been screwing Britain for the past 30 years.”

  1. I guess you’re not a film buff then Tim? The scenes are from the 2002 Oscar-nominated film Amélie, partly financed by the EU’s MEDIA programme. It’s one of a series of clips containing scenes from European films. They’ve been on the Commission’s website for quite a while.

Tim adds: Indeed, not a film buff. But if people want to make and or watch such things, no skin off my nose: as long as it’s not my taxes paying for it, of course, in which case they can bugger right off.

Godfrey Bloom does have the occasional moment of outright genius.

Yet another reason to make me proud of being an ignorant, un-nuanced hick cowboy American.
