Yes, I know, ever eager for your dose of celebrity news, you really do want to know that Paris Hilton is already out of jail, after only three days of her 23 day sentence. Given that her grandparents owned all those hotels, did she use her get out of jail free card? Was it just that prison could not hold her?
Or does this version of the universe simply not contain the possibility that such as Paris Hilton get to serve their prison or jail terms?
Hotel heiress Paris Hilton was let out of jail and put under house
arrest on Thursday after serving three days of a three-week sentence,
sparking a debate over whether fame worked for her or against her.
Officials said Hilton, 26, a symbol for many of the privilege and
excesses of American celebrity culture, was released from jail for
undisclosed medical reasons but was fitted with an electronic ankle
bracelet to track her movements and ordered confined to her house for
the next 40 days.
During a news conference, Steve Whitmore of
the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s office declined to reveal the medical
issue that led to her "reassignment" or say why she could not be
treated in jail.
The syndicated TV show "Entertainment Tonight,"
citing sources close to Hilton’s family, reported on its Web site that
Hilton had developed a rash on her body, while celebrity Web site
TMZ.com reported Hilton’s medical condition was psychological.
TMZ cited unidentified law enforcement sources as saying a psychiatrist
who visited her in jail found she was in danger of a nervous breakdown.
Sheriff’s department spokesman Whitmore said only that Hilton’s
incarceration was cut short after extensive consultation among various
parties involved, including the sentencing judge and the sheriff.
Such mystery as to why Paris was indeed let out of jail!
However, I, as one who has some experience of the California jail system (remember, the way it actually works is that prison is a State thing, jail is a county by county thing) although, fortunately, not as an inmate nor for the length of time that Miss Paris Hilton was supposed to be incarcerated, can exclusively reveal the truth.
A physical exam is given on entry. Yes, a peek into the crevasses of the human body, to make sure that nothing which should not be, like the odd smoke (even of tobacco), is taken in. It has been known for Sheriff’s Deputies (to whom this task falls) to shine a light into ears, to see if a bud or two, a little hash or pill perhaps, is being smuggled in.
In this case, upon seeing on the other side of Ms. Hilton’s head, a perfect circle of light upon the far wall, there was no other possible outcome but to release the blonde one, Paris herself, back into the community.
Didn’t someone once tell us that Paris Hilton was the perfect blonde?
