Irish Republicanism

How sad for Gerry Adams:

That proved to be a misjudgement with the Republic’s electorate more
interested in domestic economic performance, health, education and
transport than constitutional issues in Northern Ireland.

Gerry and Martin may think that the most burning issue is a United Ireland: the vast majority of the electorate don’t care about it.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer man, that the cause he has devoted his life to is met with indifference.

more important, surely, that he devoted other people’s lives to it, whether they cared or not.

How’s the case for the abolition of the European Union going?

To be fair (and putting republican/loyalist issues to one side), might it not be the case that Northern Ireland would be better off economically if it did join the Republic thereof?
I do not know the answer, but is is certainly possible and probably more than likely.

They should never have abandoned their policy of setting off bombs whenever they lost elections, that’ll teach them.
