British act Scooch managed only 29 points with their song Flying the Flag. Twelve of the points came from Malta.
Ireland came in last, with just five points.
Given the panning Scooch have had for the past month or so, how bad was the Irish entry?

We got nineteen points. Twelve from Malta and five from Ireland. Joint seconds from last with France.
Didn’t watch the show just seen the last ten minutes or so of the results.
I suspect that the enlarged Eurovision contest is run along the same lines as the EU with everyone voting for their own interests. Also, we are a net contributor to the competition, along with Germany, and yet we get very little out of it. There is one point in the contest’s favour, though… there is more democracy involved than the EU. At least the people of Europe get a say in the the winning song. I think there’s a case of pulling out of Europe before we pull out of the contest.
