Last September Sir Richard announced that all profits
from his five airlines and train companies — which he estimated at
£1.54 billion over 10 years – would be invested in developing green
energy sources.
But critics pointed out that the
gesture was not entirely philanthropic, because the money was being
diverted into commercial renewable energy ventures.
Who cares whether it’s philanthropic or not? Surely if it stops the planet from boiling it’s a good thing, whatever his motives? Or are intentions more important than outcomes?
