Photos of Helmland

Some photos in The Currant Bun of things going on in Helmland. Taken by a buddy of my brother’s, in fact, he’s his tenant in Bath. The photographer is also known to Mark Sparrow I think.

The odd thing is, Andy’s in my brother’s flat because Peter has been working in Kabul for the past two years. Odd how these little things happen isn’t it?

Further news from the cooking front in Kabul, the brother is now, after cycling through Canadians, Greeks, Italians and so on, cooking for the Brits. Yes, there they are in the middle of the perfumed and exotic east, demanding jam roly poly, stews and Shepherd’s pies.

  1. Yes, but the food at Camp Suter was still the BEST in all of Afghanistan!

  2. Where’s your sense of history, Mr Worstall?
Are you not aware that the furthest and hotest parts of the Empire were conquered by stout bulldogs clad in red woolen jackets and fuelled by such fare?
It’s about time somone told St Jamie and the rest of the nutrition nazis that national glory stems from a steaming suet pudding eaten in triple digit tropical temperatures.
    With custard, of course.
