Roy and Martin

Roy Hattersley in The Times:

No one believes that the umpire Darrell Hair acted in anything but good faith.

Martin Jacques at CiF:

On the basis of his history, Hair should be investigated for whether
his record displays persistent discrimination against players from the
Indian sub-continent.

His action in this last test match should alone be grounds for a
permanent ban on his officiating in international test matches.

All allegations of racism in cricket must be dealt with on the basis of zero tolerance.

No one Roy?

  1. Well Martin Jacques is a nobody 😉

  2. “All allegations of racism in cricket must be dealt with on the basis of zero tolerance.”
Ah, right. So he’s to be punished on the strength of an allegation is he? Truly, the concept of innocent until proven guilty is dead in this country.
Mind you, as we all know, racism is a worse crime than kiddie-rape, so it’s understandable…

  3. Well, of course. Whatever did you expect? It couldn’t possibly be as simple an explanation as ball tampering. Of course it was racism and if the accusation is made, then racism it is. It’s everywhere donchaknow?
Methinks the Pakistani captain doth protest too much… but that’s jut me.
