O’Rourke on Smith

Yes, it’s the Peej on Adam Smith:

The world’s political leaders need to be frog-marched back to The Wealth of Nations
for a refresher course. The principles therein are straightforward
enough. Even politicians should be able to grasp them. Economic growth
depends on division of labor. Division of labor depends on freedom of
trade. Freedom of trade depends on, in the words of Adam Smith, "the
obvious and simple system of natural liberty."

As up at the top there, the subject really ain’t all that difficult. In fact, it’s all obvious or trivial except…that except being Ricardo on comparative advantage.

All the rest is detail.

  1. Ah, but why would they care, Tim? They are pretty smart, and they know what works for them. The solution is not to show the thieves the advantages of honest labor, but to deprive them of the opportunity for theft. A limited government.
But then again, we the people would begin to give them their powers back again- just this one time, you know- an exceptional case. 🙂
    Cheers
