That Cabinet Reshuffle

I note from The Guardian:

The blairite former communities minister David Miliband, widely tipped
as potential future Labour leader, is promoted to Margaret Beckett’s
old brief at environment, food and rural affairs.

Excellent:

There are also questions about cost. I’m using proprietary software for
this blog at a cost of around £200. It includes forum capabilities we
will use elsewhere in ODPM.

Of course, the blog had to be
integrated with the departmental website with all the appropriate
safeguards. The design, configuration and integration went through
ODPM’s web development contract at around £6,000.

That’s another 6,200 to be pissed away then.

  1. Yep – I’ve posted a question about this to his blog. Doubt we’ll find out now, though.
Still, he surely can’t tit DEFRA up as much as Beckett. Though with her in charge of the Foreign Office and Hoon backing her up on the Europe brief, you anti-EU lot should be laughing – the ideal double-team to utterly screw up our relations with the rest of the EU (and the world…).

He is threatening to continue with a blog at Defra. Although with their track record on IT I’d be amazed if they manage to get it working before the next reshuffle. It is however always good for a giggle.
