The Western Standard in Canada is being investigated for having published the Motoons.
They’ll almost certainly win as the freedom of the press is stil the law in Canada. However, they’re being investigated by the Human Rights Commission: which runs on taxpayer dollars. And rather like that absurd piece of the US legal system, that you pay your own legal fees win or lose, The Western Standard needs to pay $75,000 or so defending itself. With no chance of getting that back either from the original complainant or the Human Rights Commission itself.
So even though it is most likely that they will win, prove that they have broken no law at all, there’ll be just that little bit more of self-censorship next time.
