Iannucci is in good form this morning:
I’m sorry if the above appears inordinately prejudiced against
Americans. I’m trying not to be too unfair to these cheeseburger-eating
surrender monkeys but I can’t help my views on nationality being
influenced by the spirit of London’s successful Olympic bid. This was,
after all, won through a potent combination of two things: the
presentation of London as a multi-ethnic mix of tolerance and
diversity, and an appeal to everyone’s hatred of the French.

That’s actually a pretty good desription of the real movie. -
The article’s author should keep in mind that while he celebrates winning the 2012 Olympics some of the votes that put London over the top came from the American contingent that was allowed to vote once New York was eliminated. Granted, that also comes under the heading of shall we say, dislike, of the French.
Individual Americans may feel a bit nervous about visiting London at the moment, but that will quickly fade. America and its citizens recognize that we have no better friend and ally than Great Britain. -
London is a multi-ethnic tolerant city, unlike the rest of Britain.
I live in Portugal, which has many British tourists.
If I were to stereotype British people- (I know, I am going to be superficial), I would split them into Londoners in one side, and the other British on the other side.
Londoners are kind and open-minded about different cultures. They usually like Lisbon.
The other British are always affraid of everything non-Anglo-Saxonic. Brrr!!!! In Portugal, they only like the Algarve because it is a touristic area with many British holiday makers.
This also applies for French people. Parisians are a lot more tolerant about foreigners than the rest of the French. Paris is also a milti-ethnic city, which I like very much.
