They're not printed in any newspapers, so where are they? For we do assume that people are offering deals and discounts in order to beat the competition.

That's the way that the online discount and coupon business works. You go to that site, look around and see which manufacturer or store is offering which coupon or discount. Take the coupon code and add it to the check out of that manufacturer or retailer and that's when you'll be given your discount.
