Colin Farrell opens up about his wild past.

Farrell spilled the beans to Jonathan Ross while appearing on his talk show.  Farrell confessed that he had been under the influence of either drugs or alcohol since the age of fourteen. 

He finally sort help in 2005 after wrapping up the film version of Miami Vice.

"I was pretty sick," he said and then went on to say that sobering up was a "nightmare".

Farrell confessed to being under the influence while filming.  "Desperation will allow you to do incredible things in the name of survival…I had created an environment for myself, a way of living for myself which, on the outside, seemed incredibly gregarious and vivacious."

Farrell says he is "very lucky" and "glad I’m out of that cycle of my life".
