   what is the world coming to when this kind of stuff is happening. what are we teaching our kids who don’t know what is going on when they see a man with a big belly. my son doesn’t know what to think and i don’t know what to tell him about it. i think he should have to have an abortion and have his tubes tied.

   I think she’s a woman through and through. I think it’s horrible that you can keep our “woman” parts except your breasts and automatically you’re a man? And why on earth are we giving transgenders testosterone yet don’t give them to patients that have medical issues? We are completely screwed up in this world!!! We need to get our acts together! MAN??? That is NO MAN!!! They are ordinary lesbians!

   Ok, quick crash course in transsexuality.
   1) What is commonly perceived as an unchangeable ‘sex’ or ‘gender’ is actually made up of different components.
   -genetic sex: whether a person has XX chromosomes, XY chromosomes, XXX chromosomes or XXY chromosomes.
   -physiological sex: whether a persons external characteristics resemble that of a typical female biology or a typical male biology. It is important to note that these are not two absolutes. It is common for there to be a degree of ambiguity when a child is born, sometimes minimal, sometimes extensive.
   -neurological sex: the gender represented by the way the brain is ‘wired up’. There are subtle but detectable differences between the male and female brain. Some post-mortem studies have shown that male-to-female transsexuals can have brains with distinctly female neurological characteristics.
   -psychological gender: the position a person falls on a scale of male to female psychological makeup. There is no black and white on this, no absolutely male no absolutely female. This is psychologically accepted fact.
   -social gender: the gender role someone plays in society. I feel it important to note that many traits that people tend to thing are ‘female behaviour’ or ‘male behaviour’ are not innate, the are learned traits that are condition into a child during there upbringing and differ widely between cultures.
   2) it is not uncomment for a number of these components to be out of line with each other. For example, genetic and physiological sex can be in difference to each other (ie. Gynecomastia is a condition which causes breast enlargement in genetically male (XY) individuals).
   3) Transsexualism occurs when psychological gender and/or neurological sex differs from genetic or physiological sex. A person may be born with XX chromosomes and female sexual characteristics, but are psychologically (and possibly neurologically) male.
   4) because a person is defined by their brain and their mind rather than their physical external appearance, a transsexual person should be referred to as their psychological gender, ie. Thomas Beatie is a man, he is male, he is a he.
   5) transsexualism is not a mental disease, a mental disorder, a delusion, or a sickness. It is accepted by all provisional and reputable psychologists, psychiatrists, and doctors.
   6) gender is a compleatly separate issue to sexual orientation. There are gay transmen, there are strate transmen (such as Thomas Beatie), there are bisexual transmen, there are asexual transmen. This is not a lezbina couple.

   I don’t see anything wrong in what he is doing if his partner cannot have children. If he turned to surrogacy nothing would be said of this. Anyone who wants children would do the same thing. Children are alot more understanding then anything else in this world and I believe the child or children will understand. Nothing is said of teenagers/people who cannot look after children, but this couple want childen. Can support the child themselves and are not going on welfare. You who are sending nasty emails to this couple have nothing better to do. I congratulate both of the new parents and hope you have a good life together.
