I’d really like to go back to New Orleans, this time taking in one of the sightseeing tours offered by Trusted Tours & Attractions instead of what happened last time. We’ll come to what happened last time in a moment but let me just tell you that if you sign up at their site and get their newsletter (here), you’ll be entered into a draw to win a free GPS system.
Right, what happened when I went to New Orleans. A couple of decades ago, off I went with a firend on a tour of the US by car. We were going to take months and see everything we could, the Grand Canyon, Disney, Routie 101, the lot. Part of that was of course to go to New Orleans. So, off we go and we don’t bother to call back home until we do actually get to NO after a month or so. Great, we’re having fun and our first night there we take a motel room and go out to the French Quarter to sample the delights. Music and booze, what else?
The next day we hie us to some family friends (nursing our hangovers) and there we are asked to make that call home. Which we do, to be told that the FBI are looking for us. On charges of armed robbery. All a terrible mistake of course, a case of mistaken identity, but we then have to spend the next week sitting in this house in NO, not going out, waiting to see if the local cops are going to come and pick us up and extradite us to Virginia.
So, umm, well, we didn’t get to see too much of the city after all. Which is why I’d like to go back and take a proper tour. I can laugh about it now, but I assure you it wasn’t all that fun back then.
