Christina Butler is a teacher who has been arrested for having sex with one of her 16 year old pupils. What is it with teachers and teenagers in Florida? This sort of thing seems to be going on all the time.
TAMPA
– Police say a special education teacher at a Tampa high school has
been arrested and charged with having sex with a ninth grade student.
According to investigators, 33-year-old Christina Butler, who teaches at
Middleton
High School
,
faces charges of lewd and lascivious battery after detectives say she
had sex with a 15-year-old boy who is reportedly one of her students.
Detectives say they discovered the relationship after they caught the boy driving
Butler
‘s car on Tuesday night.
Err, she teaches special education? Wasn’t another of these cases with a pupil that was actually in special education?
Butler
was called to the scene, and while police were waiting for her, they
say one of the boys told them the driver had a relationship with the
teacher. The officers became suspicious, and after questioning
Butler
they say she admitted to having a sexual relationship with the driver.
"She said they had sexual relations no more than a dozen times and the most recent time, being Monday,"
Davis
said.
Officers arrested
Butler
and she was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail. She was later released on bond.
Butler
is a new teacher at Middleton High, having just started there in August. She teaches special education.
"It’s
just really disappointing when something like this happens. You have
one teacher who is accused of something like this. It’s disappointing
for everybody," said Hillsborough Schools spokesman Steve Hegarty.
Parents FOX 13 spoke to were also disappointed hearing the news.
"Come on, they’re adults. Those are kids. You teach the kids, you don’t date the kids," said Sherretia Williams.
