Salary Comparator

Hmm, not sure about this. It’s an interesting idea, certainly, to use social networking to build up a database of salaries across different industries. You can build a salary calculator that way, which people can then refer to when negotiating their own compensation. With 30,000 people already joined and, I assume, many more to come, it might be more fine grained than other possible ways of doing it. But will it really be all that much of an advance on the simple average incomes as published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics?

I suppose that really depends upon how many people they attract and thus the granularity they offer.

  1. I guess we are presuming that nobody lies about their income…Even though nobody can see them i’m sure a lot of people over inflate their income.
