Global Food Crisis

So says the Guardian headline. The solution is in the last lines of the piece:

Mr Campbell said: "If we can improve agricultural practices across the
board we can dramatically increase our food production from existing
lands, without having to clear more or put more pressure on soils.
Simple things like good crop rotation, sowing at the right time of
year, basic weed control, are what is needed. They’re very well known
but not always used."

Perhaps it is indeed a crisis but according to the experts one with a reasonably simple solution.

I can see that there may be problems arising–but when have there ever been no problems.
If you look at the cited pop growth, it’s nearly 40% over a 20-year period during which food production not only kept pace but grew even more greatly. If you took the pop projection given, it’s quite a bit but at a considerably reduced rate; though I didn’t calculate it, it looks as though an equivalent supply will require a substantially lower growth in production,–meaning somewhat less pressure.
Good Lord, everyone’s getting so fat that even the poorer places want to start burning food in the automobiles they don’t
    even own yet.
