Diamonds

Diamonds are, as we know, a girl’s best friend. Well, at least in more sexist times, that’s what we were lead to believe. So, in a message from our sponsors, why not have a look at this site about diamonds?

Actually, I think it’s a pretty good site: I’m not sure I quite buy into the old idea that you should spend a month’s wages on an engagement ring (why so little?) but they do have a pretty neat system on that site. You can choose the cut, then the price range (or the carats), colour and clarity (of course, not all are available. You’re not going to get a 4 carat round cut flawless for under $1,000) and then see how they’d look in a variety of settings.

If you’re in the market for a diamond I’d say it’s definitely worth a look.

Why so much, given that it’s not a functional item, and the price is artificially kept high by the diamond industry?
I think that meme was invented by De Beers to con insecure people into paying more money for diamonds. I regard it as a scam.
Tim adds: It was indeed invented by diamond salesmen, might even have been a bright spark at De Beers, as you say.

Only if they can guarantee that they are from Sierra Leone 🙂
