Boris Cannot be Mayor

As a measure of quite how much media support Boris is going to get, the Telegraph even has his application form available for your perusal. They’ve obviously used the parliamentary candidate form.

However, Boris has (at least I think he has) beeen economical with the truth and thus must be barred from standing for Mayor (:-)). When asked if had ever previously appplied to be on the approved list of parliamentary candidates, he states "No".

But surely he was, before he got the seat at Henley?

Isn’t the approved list the list of pre-approved candidates parachuted in to constituencies for their perusal? Why would Boris apply to be on this list when he was already a selected candidate?

Not sure that I understand the full import in this context of “Private and Confidential”.

  3. I don’t understand how he fought a seat in 1997 when he only became a member of the party in 2000? Did he allow his membership to lapse in the interim?
