So, making all the right moves, doing the correct actions, but still not getting the other half up the spout? Help is at hand:

A bowl of tomato soup every day can help boost fertility among men, scientists claimed yesterday.

They have discovered that lycopene, which gives tomatoes their bright red colouring, can turn sperm into super-sperm.

Researchers
at the University of Portsmouth studied the effect of lycopene in the
diet on a random group of six healthy men, with an average age of 42.
The men were asked to consume a 400g tin of Heinz cream of tomato soup
every day for two weeks.

The researchers, from the
university’s biomedical science department, said that during the two
weeks, levels of lycopene in the men’s semen rose between seven and 12
per cent, which was "significant".

This does not only apply to tomato soup, Heinz or not, of course. Lycopene is in pretty much all tomato based foods: ketchup is actually one of the very best sources.

Further, organic ketchup has vastly more than the more commercial stuff. Not, I’m afraid for organic fans, because it is organic per se. Rather, because organic ketchups do not use sugar or corn sweetners (or at least not to the same extent) and thus use many more tomatoes per 100 g of the sauce (to get the necessary sweetness). More tomatoes equals more lycopene.

As and when this knowledge becomes more widely spread we might in fact use it as a diagnostic test. If the breakfast fry up comes with tomatoes, lunch with a tomato salad, dinner a tomato based pasta sauce, that warming snack mid afternoon is tomato soup, and the Heinz ketchup disappears in favour of an organic one, might be worth asking the other half if she’s feeling broody or summat?
