I don’t get the joke – can you explain?

Hash browns: American breakfast food.
Hash brownies: cannabis laced chocolate dessert type thing.
Alice B. Toklas: Gertrude Stein’s lover and author of the Alice B. Toklas Cookbook in which the recipe (well, an early type) for hash brownies first appeared.
I’m not saying that the above is the very bestest pun ever produced but I was hoping that people would get it. -
