Wi-Guard

I do wonder a little about what The Iªndependent is up to over wi-fi and now this Wi-Guard gadget for mobile phones.

Mobile phone manufacturers have opened talks with a small UK technology
company to develop the world’s safest mobile phone that reduces the
amount of electromagnetic radiation that is emitted by digital devices.

Really? How does that work then? Reduce the signal strength so you can’t connect with the tower?

He argued that the human body combats man-made electromagnetic fields –
the pulsing signal emitted by digital devices – but continued exposure
to such radiation could affect the body’s ability to heal. The Wi-Guard
technology works by randomising the field so it becomes more similar to
naturally occurring electromagnetic fields that the body can deal with.

No, apparently it works by randomising the field. Hhmm. You mean what was a coherent signal reaching the tower is now simply an electronic buzz which doesn’t reach the tower? You might be able to more effectively reduce the radiation from a phone by turning it off. Just a thought, of course.

People concerned with the effect of ambient radiation from wireless
networks and digital devices have turned to a variety of bespoke
technologies, including the Q-Link pendant and plug-in electromagnetic
field protection units for the home. Mr Lawler said the Wi-Guard system
is the only technology that can neutralise man-made electromagnetic
fields at source.

Well, we know that the first two are fakes, simply charlatans preying upon the gullible. Highly likely that this third is as well, not that that will make it any less successful.

What is it with the Indy and these gadgets? Are they on a commission or something?

That’s it for me and the Indy. They haven’t published a single letter or counterbalancing piece on this nonsense. It was already below the Guardian in my estimation. Bye bye. It’s been, well, boring..

  2. Clearly a case for tinfoil hats. At the very least it would help the rest of us identify the true believers.

And these, remember, are the people who presume to lecture us about global warming.

    “. . .variety of bespoke technologies . . ”
Funny, I always thought bespoke was a term used to denote high quality hand-crafted goods – not mass produced crap objects that are as non-functional as they are ugly.
