You don’t have to go through all that just to visit as a tourist, though.
And even illegal immigrants generally don’t get deported, they get given driver’s licenses instead.
Tim adds: I’ve had a previous brush with the INS. I can’t use the visa waiver scheme, at least I don’t think I can.
Even with whatever scheme, the notion that they take your fingerprints on entry is ridiculous. sanbikinoraioness and myself were going to enjoy a month in San Francisco and the West Coast but we’ve decided that we’ll take our holiday dollars elsewhere this year.
Probably to Canada.
