Really Polly?

Polly Toynbee yesterday:

But testing it out with two clicks of a mouse and two minutes on the phone, I found one locally willing to do an assessment within two days.

The Times today:

There is only one inspector for the whole of London, Lydia Edwards, listed on the Department for Communities and Local Government website.

So, we know where she got her information then but Lydia’s going to get pretty exhausted trying to cover all of London on her own, isn’t she?

  1. For Polly and her readership the HIPS affair is not a fiasco at all. Money has been earned planning it all, more money will now be earned sorting out the mess and Polly earns some money defending the whole thing. Then more money will be earned planning the next pointless and poorly thought through new rules and the whole process begins again.
A good proportion of all this money will be earned by Guardian readers who make up a large part of the petty rule makers/ enforcers of the land.

Oh and don’t forget it’s only the rich (you know, those with 4 bedroom houses who spit in the faces of the poor) who’ll be mulcted.

I know I know – it’s the rich that do the spitting, not their houses.
