The Real Reason For Blogging

You know, I think Dennis has nailed it here:

I suppose I could be civil if I tried, but where’s the fun in that?
Isn’t the whole point of the internet that we now have the technology
in place to objectify, abuse and degrade people without ever having to
either (a) meet them or (b) own a media outlet? What is the point of
having access to thousands of really bad blogs run by ot-nay oo-tay
right-bay human beans if you can’t make fun of them?

  1. You see, somebody understands Terrywatch.
Catharsis and fun in one simple package and “free at the point of delivery” (well, except for the opportunity cost of not actually doing any work but, then, you’re the economist, not me 🙂

  2. And that, Timmy, is why people who don’t have blogs think bloggers are cunts. As Harry Hutton put it, the only thing a blog is sure to do is increase the number of people who think its owner is a dick.
Tim adds: Worth noting one other thing. Dennis the Peasant was the only one, yes, the only one amongst bloggers and or journalists, who when the Dubai Ports issue came up during the P&O takover, actually went off and did the real research. When you had Senators of both left and right screaming economic protectionism and “the selling of our ports to Ayrabs” Dennis dug up the facts that P&O didn’t own any ports, simply leased some small areas of them and had nothing to do with security at them anyway.
Groundbreaking stuff really, so he’s earned, to my mind, the right to be satirical about blogging if he wishes.
Would that you or I were able to point to such a piece of investigative reporting of our own.
