Opinions on the EU

No, we won’t ever have a vote on the European Union ad our relationship with it:

A new poll has found that 69 per cent of Britons
would like to vote on the proposal that the UK should have a looser
relationship with Europe, maintaining free trade and co-operation on
common policies, but opting out of political and economic integration.

Only
27 per cent said they wanted the UK to stay a full European Union
member on current terms, participating in further integration,
according to the ICM survey for the Centre for Policy Studies.

Asked to chose their "ideal relationship", 36 per cent said that the UK
should have a looser arrangement with Europe and 29 per cent said the
UK should withdraw from the EU altogether. Asked whether there should
be a referendum on loosening ties, 69 per cent said yes and 22 per cent
said no.

We won’t have such a vote because as above, the vote would go the "wrong way".  No one’s going to alow the people to speak if the people say the wrong things now, are they?

The article doesn’t actuially say what questions were asked, but if they actually used the phrase “a looser relationship with Europe”, the only meaningful answer would be “you are being too vague; ask a more well-defined question and i will answer it”.

  3. Hmm, in what way isn’t “free trade and cooperation on common policies” a description of the current policy? Sounds a lot like it.
Yes, Tim, I know you want a zero external tariff, but leaving the EU isn’t a sufficient condition for that.
    Tim adds: but necessary.
