Harry and Iraq

A decent summation of the affair:

According to informed sources, the view of the Chief of the General
Staff, General Sir Richard Dannatt, is clear: Cornet Windsor is in the
army, in a combat unit, and that’s what people in the army do.

In my childhood we used to go to the ice-cream shop and ask for “a cornet with monkey’s blood, please”.
Tim adds: That does explain an awful lot about you you know?

Sang de singe. These things sound better in French.

I didn’t think cornet was an official rank anymore.
Tim adds: Household Cavalry…they do many things the old way.

So they won’t let him go to jolly old Iraq in the end and it surely isn’t because he might get tagged. That is just my opinion. I believe it is really because Iraq is a political black eye for the Government on Blairs’ watch, but the Royal Family is not yet tainted with oily, bloody sand, but they will be if one of them participates. The boy wants to win his spurs, bless him, but Your Majesty, it’s the wrong war. Agincourt it ain’t. The royal family knows that it must be loyal to the people, and right now, Iraq is too much of a contentious issue, Sorry, lad, but there will be more conflicts you can be sure. Maybe we can find you a nice one, maybe even one with Frenchmen in it.
