Really?

Transport for London says there has been a 72 per cent increase in
cycling in London since 2000 – that now means 450,000 journeys a year.
New figures out shortly are expected to put it even higher.

450,000 a year? What, in a city of 8 million as many as 1,232 people a day are using their bicycles? That is impressive, don’t you think?

  1. 450,000 per day. Bit of a difference.

    Tim:
“sas” has gotta be right on this one–just a mistake in the article you’ve read. Actually, if the figure you’ve given were correct, in a place like London, it’s highly unlikely that even two bicyclists would ever even SEE each other (sort of like the active-ingredient molecules in a homeopathic dilution); to put it another way, that few is probably within the M of E of the determination itself.
Tim adds: Indeed, of course I know it’s a mistake. It’s just that one of the subs on that newspaper is a regular reader here so I like to tease him.
