Is This Actually a Fair Trial?

I’m not a lawyer at all, so I’m a bit hazy about this. But this footage of bombs going off in the trial of the alleged 21/7 bombers. Well, isn’t that a tad prejudicial? After all, the defining point of that incident was that the bombs did not go off.

  1. What’s in dispute is whether there was a prior intention for the bombs to work.
The great mystery is that if there was really no prior intention and the bombs were only fakes made up to achieve a demonstration effect then why was shrapnel included?

  2. I don’t think it’s prejudicial to demonstrate what the contents of the accused’s packs could have achieved. I imagine some jurors might have been wondering just how dangerous chapati flour could be.
The real mystery is that men on failed suicide missions go to such lengths to stay out of jail.

  3. I wasn’t aware you could make explosives from flour and hydrogen peroxide

  4. Phil,
Flour is actually explosive on its own under the correct conditions (custard powder is better) – any extremely fine powder will work.
Hydrogen peroxide is an ingredient in many forms of high-explosive. Having said all of that I’m not completely convinced of what would happen if you mix the two!! 😉

Well… Your custard wouldn’t taste very nice for a start!

    The custard would be bleached?
    Essex custard?
