Outrageous!

Where will the horrors end? From a reader here (Bruce C, Thank you):

Scholarships, given to students for academic merit, are
being withheld if applicants do not make universities their first
choice "firm acceptance".

This can mean annual scholarship payments of £2,500 are not given to students who only accept a place as an "insurance" offer.

Bruce’s take?

Universities offering students money for doing well in exams – this kind of abuse must be stopped at once!

  1. That would be an incorrect interpretation. They are offering money to students who do well to not try to go to a different university. This is an attempt to buy poor students off from going to a better university in exchange for a metaphorical mess of potage.

  2. The main cause of traunty is abuse. Stop it.
