PayPerPost

As regular readers (or obsessive ones perhaps) will know I’ve been blogging along for PayPerPost for some time now. It brings in a little bit of cash each month (a few hundred squids) which is all very welcome.

They’ve launched a new little addition to their system of advertising on blogs. The aim is, of course, to increase the number of bloggers who are members of their system. In order to encourage people to sign up, of course they are getting their current members to advertise the opportunity to sign up and get paid to run ads on their own blogs. It’s a form of affiliate marketing, possibly even viral marketing, using the pre-existing network to gain further adherents.

How this works is that I or another blogger adds a piece of code to a post which creates a button that looks like this:

If you were to click on that then it would take you off into the bowels of their system where you will be able to register to join up to the system. You comment upon this post (thus gaining me links and traffic) and publish it at your blog.  You are then in the system and will be able to take various further advertising opportunities.

Now, the come on for both of us in your blogging about my blog post is that both of us will get paid for your having done so. You get paid for your first blog post, I get paid for your having joined the system via this link.

I also get paid for writing this post that encourages you to do so. This all seems entirely wonderful to me, what you think of it is of course similarly entirely up to you.
