Oliver James talks of Polly’s “blindness” to the evidence in this area, and goes on to cite the Belsky work in the BMJ. She is not blind to this research, nor to its results.
Indeed, so aware is she of the research and its results that she advocated changing the terms of reference in order to produce the result which she has determined is the right one here:

I’m not sure where I stand on this issue, our nipper had a pretty good time with totally unofficial childminders, but this, in the comments, : –
