Er, perfectly in character, one might have thought. -
The idea is to get folks riled up, somewhat reasonably, at the con-gal–so as to work them through a segue into the need for “social” legislation ministering (though unasked) to the needs of the “least of us.”
He’s a con-man himself, doing the same thing as the gal–using his white coat and credentials perfectly valid in one sphere of endeavor to give him credibility in quite another. Whether he knows “shit from Shinola” isn’t clear to me; I can only tell you he mixes the two pretty thoroughly.
By the time you get well on in the piece, you can see that the white coat is actually pink. (And I don’t mean he’s gay–NTTAWWT). -
