Councils are able to sell on recyclable items for profit
So why aren’t they paying you for the privilege of collecting it?

Nice business to be in. Force your workers to do the work on threat of fines or imprisonment. Then sell it on and keep the profits.

There is no profit in recycling. If there was a profit some enterprising folk would be nicking it before the council came and collected it. This is just another costly sacrifice to Gaia.
