I’d have put you down as a Tebbit man.
It is not enough that Maggie should win, everyone else must lose.
John Hume.
What a staggeringly lacklustre list.
Norman Tebbit for F**k’s sake?
Clare Short?
Give me strength.
Cleanthes,
At least Tebbit got things done.
What is Benn doing in there?
He’s regularly wheeled on to the BBC, as though he’s some wise old sage, regardless of the tiny minority of the population that care about left-wing politics, or how often he’s been wrong.
Even in power, what did he do? Concorde.

Tim Worstall links to a BBC poll for political hero where the choice is between
* Tony Benn
* Neil Kinnock
* Alex Salmond
* Clare Short
* Norman Tebbit
* Margaret Thatcher
* Shirley Williams
On the other hand, Benn is winning the poll (this comment is mostly a public information announcement for the benefit of any left-of-centre, or indeed not rabidly right-wing, types who’d like to see Mrs T lose but don’t have any great enthusiasm for the other candidates…)
For a moment, I thought you might have been linking here – where at the end of the first day’s polling, Maggie is doing very well indeed (but so is C Attlee). Forgive the solipsism.
How can so many people vote for Tony Benn?
He has always been as mad as cheese, have these folk not noticed?.
TA: “Even in power, what did he do? Concorde.”
Closed more coal mines than any minister before him. Not bad for a man of the people.
