I wonder, do you think that I too could get paid for rewriting an Orwell essay?
BTW, re-reading that Orwell for the umpteenth time I note something new about it, the china mugs. They would have originally been for the cider (presumably Kentish back then?), before the days of cheap glass pots, for drinking a rough cider out of pewter will kill you, eventually, from lead poisoning. He was writing in 1946, so the china mugs started to disappear around WWI. Is that about right for the appearance of mass produced cheap glass?
