You Tell ‘Em Girl!

Truly righteous stuff here.

  1. Quite bizarre that some MPs are demanding a big pay rise to keep their salares in line with comparable occupations, like GPs.
Was it not the government that so misnegotiated GPs contracts that they received a 30% pay increase in the last year alone? So MPs should be rewarded for this mess?
There is absolutely no shortage of well qualified people who want to become either an MP or a doctor. MPs salaries should be compared to those who work in occupations that are exposed to market forces, not to people who are protected from reality by the public purse.

  2. If you take into account their incredibly generous pension scheme and allowances, MPs are already paid more than GPs. Perhaps it’s really a plea that MPs pay should go down?

  3. One minor niggle: GPs may pay their staff, but the widely bandied figure of £100k is their salary after such deductions.
