Carbon Trading System

Well,

The European Commission imposed swingeing cuts in permitted carbon
emissions by industry yesterday, provoking a storm of protest from
European governments and warnings that the cost of Europe’s emissions
trading system (ETS) would drive up electricity prices.

…yes, but that is what it’s supposed to do. Odd to complain about something that looks like it might work as advertised.

One response

  1. Those whom the Gods seek to destroy, first they make mad.
The French in particular are now in the uncomfortable position of having to make their actions match their rhetoric. The only sensible thing they can do now is cheat, and under declare their emissions.
At some point people will realize you can’t predictably control the climate, and that deliberately handicapping your economies with extra taxes, that the rest of the World doesn’t, is an act of preternatural stupidity, and some day someone will pay the price for this nonsense.
