Racism and Fascism

Mary Kenny has a nice Thunderer on the distinctions between racism and fascism. One is all about race, obviously, the other about the worship of the corporate State.

Slight quibble, I’ve always (perhaps mistakenly) believed that Franco would only let escaping Jews into Spain if someone else would take them out. Which Salazar did, many such escapees shipping out from Lisbon during the war. If anyone’s got more on that I’d be grateful for links.

Also, if Salazar was a clerico-fascist (which he was) then should we use the same description of De Valera?

It’s funny that she didn’t mention Mussolini. His facist movement had existed for years, and been in power for over decade, before it adopted racialist policies, under pressure from the Nazis.
