Cameron on Terrorism

Dave’s solution:

Instead, what is needed is a Home Office minister for terrorism who is
a full member of the cabinet, in the same way as the chief secretary to
the Treasury is. Action against terrorism deserves a dedicated seat at
the top table.

Yes, that’ll do it don’t you think? Someone whose only job experience in the real world has been PR guy for a failing TV station perhaps? That’ll have the jihadis quivering in their boots no doubt.

The last thing we need is a Ministry FOR Terrorism.
Tim adds: Thinking about it, actually we do. Around here we take it for granted that The State does things less efficiently than the market. So nationalise it and see it shrink.

  2. I think we need to set up some sort of committee or review process before me start appoint a Terrorism Tzar. How about we have a public enquiry and then we appoint someone? And while we’re at it, shouldn’t we have some sort of national terrorism force. An elite and very smartly dressed group of ruthless men who are above the law and can deal with terror and dissent without all this tiresome accountability nonsense. They could be personally answerable to the Terrorist Tzar. Now who can we appoint as our first Tzar? Has anyone seen Himler lately?

Are you sure? I think we’ll end up with more, resource hungry, terror that is less efficient in it’s stated aims. (Also known as HMRC.)
