Madeleine Bunting and Demos

Whisper it softly who dares…….

From a mole deep in think tank land (that’s propeller-head wonk land to Guido) the reason for Madeleine Bunting’s leaving Demos and returning to The Guardian.

A staff revolt!

I think we can safely assume that it wasn’t one at The Guardian demanding her back.

Update: She’s not on their website…but then I don’t know if that’s fast work or she was never on it.

Hhhm:

Vacancies:

No current vacancies

That’s not quite true is it?

Update II.

Madeleine Bunting has decided to resign as Director of Demos. Since it
has emerged that her vision for Demos is incompatible with that of the
trustees, she has decided to focus on her interests as a writer and a
thinker at this point in her career. She will resume her regular column
in the Guardian and her position as Associate Editor, and has agreed a
book contract with the publishers Granta, on the future of the
countryside.

She thinks? Is capable of doing so?

  1. How very lucky she is that her post at the Graun hasn’t been filled while she’s been away. In any normal industry she’d have been told to eff off.

  2. If you look at the demos website, look at the list of staff – someone is now “Acting Director”. And its not Mahdi.
