Timmy Elsewhere

As part of my ongoing campaign to acheive a measure of financial security I do bits and bobs of writing in obscure places for small sums of money.

I’ve just spent a happy ten minutes or so doing 450 words on casinos in North Korea. Weirdly, there actually is (or was) one in that country.

The next one, which should take a similar amount of time, is on casinos in Singapore.

There are none there, so that should be a simple piece, eh? Now, how to stretch that piece of information over 450 words……

  1. But Tim, there are going to be casinos in Singapore aren’t there?
It’s something they learned from us, is my guess. At least the cultural traffic is two-way.

  2. Tim – perhaps you should ask now ex Morgan Stanley Chief Asian Economist Andy Xie for his thoughts on the subject…. “to sustain its economy, Singapore is building casinos to attract corruption money from china” was one of the phrases that seems to have upset the authorities the most – apart from “..Actually, Singapore’s success came mostly from being the money laundering centre for corrupt Indonesian businessmen and govt officials..” Funnily enough – his “Ex” status followed shortly after that email leaked out… Still, as they say, facts are stubborn things.

  3. Hmmm. Beware the Gerald Ratner thoughts – best not to post them online.

  4. Charlie – what have we learned from them, then?
