Daniel’s Away

Why do I get this slight feeling that Daniel is away so Robbie doth play?

Blah…"voices of moderation"…blither…"shared values"…waffle…
"stand together"… blather… "more that holds us together than
divides us"…yahdiyah…"good place to be a Muslim"…more
blah…"learn English". Yup, another day, another narcoleptic speech by
a Minister about tackling Islamist radicalism. ( Yes, I want all Muslim
immigrants to learn English so that they too can suffer the shared
British experience of the dull ministerial speech.)

This is, might I note, The Times. The newspaper of record?

What a bright idea: so the Government should stop splurging
cash and influence on nutbag Muslim groups or those groups that
equivocate about the loonies in their ranks. Perhaps I’m not being
sophisticated, but you would have thought that Ministers might have got
around to this sooner? Erm, and I’m going to get very controversial
here, maybe the Government shouldn’t have been giving our money to
extremists in the first place. I guess Ministers were too busy
bloviating about integration and devising cunning new ways of stopping
people flying with harmless objects to actually do something so
practical.

Bravo! Now, if only we can get the leader columns to read the same way.
