So Cops will be wasting even more time busting people for smoking; while the real criminals are left to play. Talk about easy targets.

Genius, it’s now perfectly safe to walk down the street smoking a joint because marijuana offences are not worth prosecuting, but they WILL ban cigarettes and presumably enforce that ban because… …it might give squirrels cancer from second hand smoke?

Sounds fair enough to me, it’s really unpleasant walking down the street behind someone streaming tobacco smoke. Rather have smoke free zones where there are lots of pedestrians.
If you want to smoke, fine, that’s your choice, but do it where you won’t be offensive to others by forcing them to breath it and making their clothes stink. -
Let people smoke on street corners and keep the rest of the pavement for us non-smokers (joke!)

It’s only a matter a time before the council come up with the idea of banning smoking in your own home… well… especially if the council owns your home.

Hellfire where the hell do we go from here, will the next step be the banning of cars, buses and trucks from our streets? No I thought not. -
I think that if you re-read the story, you may find Westminster Council are not being completely serious:
‘The authority is opposed to the smoking ban, but has said it should include pavements because large numbers of drinkers gathering outside to smoke would be potentially noisy, abusive or anti-social.
‘”It’s very easy for the Government to evangelise how this will be good for public health,” said a council spokesman. “The reality is it will cause major problems. This is the only sensible solution to the problem besides removing the draconian ban.”‘
